Kay joined the EMA Nelson team in July 2004. A New Zealander by birth, she spent 10 years working in England, before returning to Nelson in 2000. She has worked in Human Resources for approximately 10 years, in both the private and public sectors.

Prior to joining EMA Kay worked as an Human Resources Advisor for Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology. Preceding this Kay gained extensive experience internationally as Human Resources Manager for Millennium and Copthorne Hotels - UK and Europe, the Copthorne Tara, London, and as Personnel and Training Manager for Hilton Hotels - UK.

She has also travelled and worked in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Kay also found time to graduate from the New Zealand Army Officer Cadet School, and was posted as a Troop Commander of a Transport and Catering Troop.

Kay has a BA from Waikato University and is currently studying extramurally at Massey University towards a Graduate Diploma in Business (Dispute Resolution).
