Membership Member Services

Member Services

Why become A Member?

We help members minimise risk and make the most of their business opportunities, especially when it comes to effective people management and strategic business planning.

Free telephone advice and a weekly newsletter, along with local issues briefings three times a year in nine regional locations ensure members receive updates on topical issues - and importantly the ramifications new legislation may have on their business.

In addition to valuable advice on Employment Relations, HR & OH&S and leading edge Training and Conferences at member rates, EMA Central members have free access to many employer resources.

Reasons for supporting continued EMA membership are becoming increasingly personalised to the requirements of each member. EMA will be pleased to talk to you about your changing organisational circumstances and how you might maximise the benefits from your membership so they well and truly succeed the costs necessary to provide the range of services membership offers.

EMA has been able to maintain the same minimum subscription rate and formula for membership costs over 7 years by increasing use of technologies like web and 0800 AdviceLine to complement our highly personalised user pays services.

24/7 Information and Insurance

EMA knows that many small members view their membership as a very cost effective form of insurance. Even the smallest members paying the minimum $300 per annum subscription level for EMA membership, could be faced with a personal grievance claim that could easily be 10 to 20 times that cost.

Specialised and Personal Services

A very large number of not-for-profit organisations and government agencies also choose to remain members, even when they have their own HR specialist(s). EMA is owned and managed by its members and as a cooperative organisation it is able to undertake some specialist activities much more cost effectively for its members than it is possible to maintain such expertise in-house.

Networks

ER/HR Network: Keep up to date with developments in employment relations by participating in our ER/HR network in your region.

Advocacy

Major companies find the evidence based advocacy of Business NZ so effective in the lobby with Government that in excess of 80% belong to EMA Central or one of the other 3 regional associations for this reason alone.]

Contract Service Arrangements

Out sourcing some non-core activities is becoming much more common and in today’s challenging business environment both the member and EMA can benefit from negotiating a lower hourly contract rate for productive working relationships that deliver benefits to both parties.
